Emily ~ A Kentucky Equine Senior Session {class of 2012}

Heaven.

What more can I say? An amazing high school senior, the green (or blue!) grass of Kentucky, front porches, sweet tea, horses, dogs, a pot belly pig named Callee and my new Canon 5D Mark 3!! It doesn’t get much better than this!

Meet Emily…

A Tucson, AZ high school senior that has accomplished amazing things at such a young age!

She has been riding, training and competing in Saddle Seat Equitation for the past eight years. Saddle Seat is an American form of riding that originated in the United States’ South. Emily rides the American Saddlebred horse which is the most well-known breed of horse used for this style of riding.

Emily is so excited to be a member of the 2012 Saddle Seat Equitation World Cup Team which will be competing for the title in Parys, South Africa this December. She also plans to attend the University of Arizona as a marketing major in the spring of 2013.

You can imagine my excitement when I was asked to travel to Kentucky for Emily’s senior photos. Emily boards her horses and trains at Zubrod Stables in Prospect, Kentucky. We spent most of our time at the stables which is family-owned and operated with three generations working at the barn. {Might I add that these ladies were some of the hardest working, professional, and hospitable women I have met!}

Our sessions were divided up between Emily’s three horses; Sport, Brody and Harry, as well as heading to downtown Louisville for an urban setting. (Yes, with our coffee in hand we drove (and braved) all of the city’s one way streets… during morning rush hour traffic… on a weekday!)

I have to tell you, it was so hard to pick which pictures to use for this blog post, so bear with me… it’s a long one! Also, don’t forget to watch Emily’s video at the end to see more of this amazing young woman I was blessed to photograph!

Congratulations, Emily! It was so much fun spending time with you in Kentucky. You truly are a “country girl at heart”!
