Simply ADAIRable – 5 day old newborn photo session

I’m so excited to post the first of many images from my newborn photo sessions with my sweet granddaughter, Adair! As you can see by the title of my post, she isn’t just adorable… she’s simply ADAIRable!

Back home in Arizona, I had been collecting several different props to use when our grand baby got here. And of course, I HAD to cover my bases and make sure I had both boy and girl accessories since we weren’t sure what the gender would be! If you happened to have read my previous post “Becoming Grandma”, you’ll know the crazy, unexpected adventure that got me to Hawaii for Adair’s month early arrival.

I flew here straight from Los Angeles and didn’t have any of my camera equipment, computer, or any of the cute props I had been stock piling. Thankfully my husband ended up flying out from Phoenix at the same time and brought my camera equipment and laptop. However, I was still without all of my cute props. So the day after I got here, my mom and mother-in-law patiently Face Timed with me as they walked through my house back in Arizona and collected all of my “goodies’. The package arrived the day Adair came home from the hospital… perfect timing!

Here are a few of my favorite images from Adair’s 5 day old newborn photo session…. i.e. “The Nest Session”! I photographed Adair in Nate and Taylor’s backyard amongst the beautiful Hawaiian pink Hibiscus flowers.

I was so excited to incorporate a few of the lovely pieces of furniture that Taylor refinished using CeCe Caldwell’s Clay and Chalk paint. For the nightstand pictured below, she used Young Kansas Wheat and Dover White. The beautiful green buffet pictured indoors is painted with Alaskan Tundra Green and Vintage White. Taylor has just became the exclusive distributor for Hawaii and can now ship orders of CeCe Caldwell’s paint and supplies anywhere in the United States from her online paint shop! (And the shipping cost is no different than if you ordered from the mainland!)

{O.k… maybe it’s just me, but I could just stare at that sweet, angelic little face all day!}

I had to include a picture of the proud new Daddy transporting Adair in her “nest”. She just looks so tiny when you see her next to her Dad!Hawaii newborn photo sessionA little story behind this random photo of a hen sitting on her newly hatched chicks. Taylor and Nate mentioned that a hen had taken residency in their backyard right under their kitchen window. When Taylor went to the hospital to be induced, the eggs hadn’t hatched. While she was at the hospital, Adair wasn’t the only one who made her appearance… 9 fuzzy chicks decided to make their debut as well! I love it when God does that! Such an perfect symbol of His amazing creation and the beginning of life.

I had  a similar incident happen back home in Arizona when Taylor got married and moved away and our youngest child, Tanner graduated from high school all within the same week. It literally felt like a “Mommy Ambush”.  However, in God’s ever gentle way, as I was trying to come to grips with entering the “empty nest” phase of life, He spoke to me through a pair of Mourning Doves that had established their home in our entryway. It’s funny how everything comes around full circle!
