It was such a joy photographing Alexandra’s Cake Smash Session! It seemed like yesterday I took her newborn pictures; now she’s one! Alexandra is surrounded by 4 doting, older brothers and what a treasure it is to have such sweet images showing them loving on Alexandra on her special day!
As you can see, Alexandra was delighted to “dig in” to her beautiful cake and share with her brothers! I always love this part of cake smash sessions but sometimes I feel bad that after I leave, parents get to contend with the after effects of a major sugar rush!
As I wrote in detail in Alexandra’s newborn blog post, her dad, Paul Lynch, is an amazingly gifted photographer. His award winning landscape and wildlife images are spectacular. He is also a Canon shooter and when I arrived, he was excited to offer me the opportunity to try out his new lens, the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM. Wouldn’t you know, that’s the next lens on my wish list that I’m saving up for! All I can say is I’m completely ruined! I’ve been shooting with the baby brother of this lens for years, the EF 85mm 1.8, and even though it is a great little lens, it doesn’t even compare to the sharpness of the f/1.2. I joked with Paul as I was trying it out that it was so generous of them to offer such a great parting party favor! Haha!
Before I end, I just have to do a little boasting about two of their boys, Alex and Apollo. The day after Alexandra’s first birthday party, both the boys qualified for the European Golf Championships in Scotland! Their oldest son, Alex, shot a -1 under par 71 to win the U.S. Kids Phoenix Tour Championship Finale as well as receiving the Player of the Year award! So proud of these boys!
Thank you Paul and Janne, for inviting me to capture such a special event. Your family is so precious!
Oh, in regards to party favors, I didn’t leave empty handed. Janne gave me a dozen of freshly gathered eggs from their hens! They were amazing!
