My Personal Challenge: think four:eight

I love featuring my clients in my blog. I am so blessed with the opportunity to photograph such amazing people and am privileged to share their story with others. However, as you can see, my posts are relatively few and far between.

I have a confession to make: blog posts intimidate me. Yep. I agonize about what to write, what images should or shouldn’t be included, how should I arrange them, etc. I always have great intentions to post some of my personal work… images that move me, or maybe a thought or two about something that is relevant to my life as a photographer. But in the end, intimidation wins.

Well, I have made a decision to conquer my finger-freezing fear of posting to a blog. (Not sure if there is an official medical name for such a fear but I think “blogophobia” or “postophobia” might suffice!) In order to accomplish my goal, I have decided to give myself a personal challenge: post every day for a month! (Oh my, even writing that makes my palms clammy and stomach nauseous!)

Because this is a photography blog, not only do I want to challenge myself to actually “post”, I also wanted to challenge myself creatively, artistically and technically. I thought it would be easier to have some sort of theme to help direct me as opposed to randomly creating 31 posts in a row. (31 post in a row? Breath in… breath out!)

Recently, my church {Desert Springs Church} started a new series entitled: think four:eight. The series explores the secret to a joy filled life, based upon the following verse found in Philippians 4:8:

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.”

I know for myself, sometimes I allow the cares of this world to press in and become my focus. However, there is so much good in our world that is worthy of fulfilling the thoughts described in Philippians 4:8. From major world events to a simple gesture of a young person giving his seat up for an elderly person, the list is endless.

With this in mind, my goal is to post an image everyday for the next month that reflects the essence of true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy in my life. I also encourage you to join me in my pursuit to think four:eight!
