Basketball Beauty – Mesquite High – Class of 2013

Meet Deidre.

Deidre is one of those crazy “tom boy/girly girls” all mixed together! (And I love how her Premiere Senior Session shows just that!) Deidre is graduating from Mesquite High School and loved playing basketball all four years. Her senior year is marked with the great honor of being captain of the varsity girl’s basketball team. She was also the Powder Puff quarterback. (Just the phrase “Powder Puff Quarterback” describes her to a “t”!)

I’ve known Deidre’s mom and dad forever. My husband, Neil, and I would go out on numerous double dates with them while in high school. We were even privileged to be in their wedding! I’ve been at the hospital to see each one of their girls after they were born. So you can just imagine how incredibly special it is to photograph their “baby girl”! As you’ll see at the end of her pics, Neil had to come by to see Deidre. (And of course, we had to get a picture of Diedre with his hot, Ford Mustang Shelby GT500!)

Before I go… I have to share some little behind the scenes “Bloopers”! I know as well as anyone how awkward it can be in front of the camera. Deidre’s mom and older sister Dennete joined us for her session and made the day so much fun! Denete did all of Deidre’s make-up and hair and gave some fun, valuable input. Because Deidre has such beautiful hair, I wanted her to try running her fingers through her hair in a natural, flowing motion. Oh my goodness… it was the funniest thing ever. I’d gently directed her to try starting up close to her head but somehow she would end op at the end of her hair with some king of twirly-knot thing going on!

Diedre was being such a champ about it but was really struggling to figure this one out. I love that she could laugh at herself because it was so stinking cute. As we transitioned from the studio to outdoors, I would have her give it another go… but by the end… everyone, including Diedre, would bust out laughing! BUT, Diedre persevered and successfully mastered the “move” on one of her final pics! Way to go Deidre! I just love how you were able to laugh at yourself and have such a great outlook!

Now, normally I wouldn’t post those funny, awkward photos but with Deidre’s permission, I wanted to show my clients and readers that it’s ok to feel a little awkward in front of the camera. Just have fun and keep “playing”  and sometimes we end up with the “Money Shot!”

Congrats, Deidre! I am so blessed to be a part of your life and so excited for all the amazing things God has planned for your life!
