Meet the Schumaker family. They are an amazing sports loving family residing in Gilbert, Arizona!
When Lori contacted me to schedule a Premiere Photo Session, I was beyond excited and deeply touched at the opportunity to capture another chapter in their family’s story. A little over four years ago, the Lord led Bryan, Lori and their boys to open their hearts and their home to a precious daughter from Bulgaria. Selah’s life up to then had been spent in a Bulgarian orphanage filled with trauma, neglect, and emotional issues.
I was so privileged to photograph Selah’s homecoming as dear friends and family eagerly awaited their arrival at Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. (You can watch the video/slideshow of that special day at the end of this post!)
Well, that was then, and this is now! God has done such a miraculous work in this now spunky and tenacious little girl! Bryan and Lori continue to seek out the best care from many specialists and surround her with a safe and loving atmosphere as they trust God to finish what He has started!
Now that I’ve shared a little about Selah, let me tell you about these two incredible boys! They are avid athletes and have an amazing gift and passion for basketball. Because these boys (and their family) basically eat and sleep basketball, I thought it would be fitting to photograph them in their super cool basketball inspired bedrooms! It didn’t take long for me to pick up on their tender and sweet spirit layered beneath their “sports guy” exterior. What a great combination!
As we were wrapping up our session, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to capture this passionate sports loving family doing what they love and playing some ball on their incredibly awesome backyard KU basketball court! Even their adorable Schnauzer mix got in on the action! Because it was almost dark, I had to crank up my ISO and shoot with a slower shutter speed so the final pics are definitely soft and noisy but nonetheless, I absolutely LOVE the story they tell!
